Under a proposed statute, Florida’s legislature would allow certain unlicensed individuals to perform residential and commercial pool improvements as long as they were supervised by a licensed pool contractor.
Reduction of Licensing Requirements for Certain Pool and Spa Work - SB 338
This amendment would allow any person who is not required to obtain a license under section 489.105(3)(d) - (i) or (m) - (o) to perform specialty contracting services for the construction, remodeling, repair, or improvement of commercial or residential swimming pools, hot tubs, spas, or interactive water features under the supervision of someone who is properly licensed under section 489.105(3) (j) - (l). Sections (j) - (l) cover licenses for residential and commercial pool/spa contracting and swimming pool/spa servicing contracting. No contract is required between the unlicensed person performing the work and the supervising license holder.
